Today Jill and I attended D2E (Down 2 Earth) at the Hynes Convention Center. From the D2E website:

“[D2E] is a marketplace for eco-friendly products, a public stage for community initiatives, and an educational forum that addresses sustainability issues on the minds of us all. D2E emphasizes local and innovative solutions and connects consumers with progressive companies that are investing in a more sustainable future.”

There were a lot of eco/green friendly vendors and products there, more so than I would of thought. As I was walking around I found myself thinking that wow, it is really becoming easier to live a greener lifestyle. I took out my iPhone and began snapping pics of all the great products and services I saw. I thought I’d share with you the ones I feel were the best.

Clean Journey

Clean Journey

http://www.cleanjourney.com/

Clean Journey is a collaborative force looking to involve people with clean energy in which ever form they feel comfortable, anywhere from contacting local politicians to volunteering.

They were running a video campaign where you answer a question about being green. Jill and I both opted to do it, and at some point our responses will be online.

Get Clean

Get Clean

Get Clean

According to Jill, and one of the exhibitors this is one of Oprahs favorite products. It’s a collection of high concentrate green cleaners that really work, and work well. The free sample we got is a small, small vial (maybe 3oz at most) will last (according to the exhibitor) 2-3 months. 2 drops goes into a 16oz spray bottle filled with water as a window washer. The rest goes into another 16oz spray bottle filled with water as an all purpose cleaner.

Very cool if it works as well as well as they say. If the sample does I’m definitely buying some from the website.

Green Scene

Green Scene

http://www.greensceneware.com

This was a cool booth, for a few reasons. First, it’s biodegradable paper plates, plastic cups and plastic cutelry. That’s great, no need to feel guilty using these throw away products. Second, it’s affordable. I bought a 24 pack of cutlery for $3. Third, it’s actually a project by some babson college students. It’s great to see that kids my age are being so productive in the green scene.

Head to their website soon, because when the semester ends so does this project. So go buy some.

Flavrz Drink Mix

Flavrz

http://www.flavrzdrinkmix.com/

Flavrz is an eco-friendly, low sugar concentrated flavored drink mix. Basically a greener, healthier version of kool-aid. One bottle ($8) can make about 8quarts o flavored drink. It’s tasty, and healthy what more could you want? I bought myself a bottle of the cherry flavor. Hopefully I’ll drink it over soda, so I’ll be drinking more water but not have to loose any flavor.

Brighter Planet

Brighter Planet

http://brighterplanet.com/

Brighter Planet is a group that helps people reduce and manage their carbon footprint by providing affordable solutions, green tips, ect. It’s a great huge community, Jill actually has their green credit card, which with each purchase helps build renewable energy.

Their online community is huge, and provides plenty of tips. They even have twitter @earthweet

Preserve

Preserve

http://www.preserveproducts.com/

Preserve is a developer of BPA free plastic products that can be found at whole foods, trader joes and other retailers. What’s great is every product you buy from them, when you’re finished with it you can send it back to them. They’ll grind up the plastic and use it to make a new plastic product. They even pay the shipping cost!

It’s a great example of high end recyclable products.

Boston Organics

Boston Organics

http://bostonorganics.com/

Boston Organics is a delivery service that promotes healthy, organic and local eating. You can sign up to have a box of fruits and veggies delivered to your door every week, every other week, ect. All their products are organic and locally grown (when available). It’s also very affordable, the box in the photo costs only $29 for delivery.

It’s great becuase it promotes healthy eating. You specify what fruits and vegetables you want (and other products like eggs, honey, coffee, ect) and each week they’ll mix it up for you, so you wont get bored with your delivery.

Swaptree

Swaptree

http://www.swaptree.com/

Swaptree.com is an innovative website that allows members to trade books, CDs, DVDs and video games with other users for free. I’ve already signed up.

It gives you something useful to do with those books, cds and DVDs you’re done with. You provide the UPC code of the item, and their extensive Database pulls up the needed info and tells you what you can trade for it. And there is a lot to trade for. I’ve added only about 8 items to my ‘have it’ list and I can trade them for over 50,000 different books, cds or dvds.

It promotes reusing products, not buying new products and community.

That’s it for my list. There were a lot more vendors and products featured, but it’s more then I can write about. The whole list of vendors and products featured is available here. And if you’re in the Boston area D2E is still going on tomorrow (Sunday April 5th), it’s only $10, and you’ll learn a lot.
